Huntington, Harper, and Hooligans- Ok, so on Friday 7/2514 CBS 2 reports 16 cameras deployed by Huntington Beach to prevent riots at Surf Open, 80 arrests reported anyway on the first weekend of The Huntington Surf Open ...

7/28/14 - Predicted by the author of this blog: Cameras
would do some to stop trouble, but not all...

So no word yet that it was even suggested by Huntington
Beach Mayor  Matthew Harper or any city council member
that the event should be cancelled to teach a lesson to actual
hooligans who spoil the fun for everyone. But you see that
would have been the truly responsible thing to do, right? How
many years has this trouble been going on?

Ok, so on Friday 7/25CBS 2 reports 16 cameras deployed by
Huntington Beach to prevent riots at the Huntington Beach
Surf Open, 80 arrests reported anyway on the first weekend of
The Huntington Surf  Open ... Yah, a lot of good those cameras
did! As predicted by the author of this post, cameras would not
stop

The camera measure was reported taken to prevent the kind of near
riot that occurred last year, which included a bike shop broken into
and a bike stolen.

Lol! Great way to send a lesson, just the same old same old.
with the exception of a few more eyes watching everyone and
the cancellation of some of the free events in order to curtail
fun loving rioting!

Yes, great answer, take a litte fun away from everyone so we
don't have to cancel the whole deal.

Just a heartbeat away from rioting ? 80 arrests in the first weekend
of new measures taken for security: 16 cameras and some free
events cancelled. Well, better than last year.

Maybe what Huntington businesses and citizens need is a
Harper Valley Huntington PTA of sorts to holler up a bit at a City
Council meeting and demand Mayor Harper and his City Council
do the responsible thing : Cancel the Huntington Surf Open for a
year for the protection of life, limb, and property for fine upstanding
Huntington Beach residents. Maybe then and only then will the
Huntington hooligans and outsiders shape it up once and for all.
But then again, with a little luck, maybe cameras watching everyone
have their fun will keep the peace, for now.
